Peninsula Life Church

Privacy Policy

What the app keeps about you, who can see it, and how to have it deleted. In plain words, because a policy nobody can read protects nobody.

Last updated October 29, 2026

Who this is about

This policy covers the Peninsula Life Church app, which includes Barnabas, the church website at peninsulalife.com, and the church's text messages. Peninsula Life Church is responsible for the information described here. You can reach us at plc_media@peninsulalife.com.

What we keep

We keep what the app needs to work for you, and we have listed all of it.

  • •Your name and email address. So you can sign in, and so Barnabas can address you.
  • •Anything you write in About you. A few sentences you choose to write about yourself. It is sent to Barnabas so it answers the way you asked. It is never shown to other members.
  • •Your questions and the answers. Your conversations with Barnabas, your Drop in lessons and your guided studies, so a conversation can carry on where it left off.
  • •Your bookmarks, notes and progress. Where you are in a book, what you saved, and how far through a study you are.
  • •Whether you come to Peninsula Life Church. A single yes or no that you set yourself. It is not a record of which services you attended. We do not keep one.
  • •A link to your church record, if you make one. If you connect your church account, we store the identifier that links the two, so your groups, giving and signups can find their way back to you.
  • •Subscription status. Whether you are subscribed, when the period ends, and which store holds it. Not your card.
  • •A notification token, if you turn notifications on. An identifier for your device, so a reminder can reach it. Turning notifications off removes it.

What we never do

  • •We do not sell your information, and we do not give it to advertisers.
  • •We do not show your conversations to other members.
  • •We never see your card. Giving and event signups open the church's own Planning Center system in a browser, and a subscription is bought on Apple's or Google's own payment sheet. There is no field anywhere in the app that takes a card number.

Who can see your conversations

We read a conversation when you report a problem with it, and that is the only time. Reporting an answer sends us that conversation so we can put it right.

Nobody browses what members have asked. The tools church staff use to keep the app running and to watch what it costs show how much was used and what it cost, not what was said.

Companies that handle information for us

We use other companies to run the app. They may only use what they receive to provide their service to us.

  • •Supabase. Stores the database and handles signing in.
  • •Vercel. Hosts the website and the app's server functions.
  • •OpenAI. Receives the text of your questions, and the passage you are reading, in order to answer. It does not receive your name or email address.
  • •Planning Center. The church's own system, which holds member records, groups, giving and event signups.
  • •Apple and Google, with RevenueCat. Take the payment and tell us whether a subscription is active.
  • •Expo. Delivers notifications to your device.
  • •Resend. Sends email from the app, such as a sign-in code.
  • •Telnyx. Delivers the church's text messages to your phone.

Text messages

If you give the church your mobile number and agree to receive texts, we use it to send church news, event reminders and messages for your groups. The number is kept in the church's Planning Center records, not copied into the app or the website. When you reply STOP, we record that number so it is left out of every later text.

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

The Bible text

The app uses the World English Bible, which is in the public domain. Reading it is free and always will be.

How long we keep it

We keep what is listed above for as long as you have an account. Delete your account and it goes with it.

Some records have to outlive the account for a short time. A payment record held by Apple or Google is theirs, not ours, and deleting your account does not cancel a subscription. Cancel that in your store account.

Deleting your account

Open Settings in the app, then Delete my account. It removes your profile, your conversations, your notes, your bookmarks and your progress. It cannot be undone.

If you would rather we did it, write to plc_media@peninsulalife.com from the address you signed up with.

Children

This app is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly create accounts for them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so in the app rather than quietly changing the date at the top of this page.

Questions about any of this, or a request to see or delete what we hold: plc_media@peninsulalife.com. See also our Terms of Use and Text Message Terms.
